Letter to my Clients...

Dear Friends,

My name is Gabrielle Morris. I’m from Chicago and grew up in one of Chicago’s many South Suburbs. Just to give you a little back story, when I think back on how I became interested in this medium, it actually wasn’t my first choice. I was more interested in film and never took photos into serious consideration. But eventually, without even knowing, I found myself taking photos more often than usual. Back when flip phones were heavily used and before I was allowed to have a phone when my parents would upgrade to the newest phones, they would pass down their old current phones to me. As unusual of an introduction to photography,  that was the start of it all. Like any other little girl, you take pictures of yourself non stop; which I did, but I also found myself posing my family and friends, setting up still lifes with various things in the house and literally spending hours in the backyard taking pictures of the trees and my mom’s flowers.

Fast forward to today and now have graduated with my BFA in photography at The American Academy of Art here in Chicago back in 2018, I have been growing and learning myself and letting God orchestrate how my bodies of work and business will look like. Being able to create and birth something through a visual is one thing, but when you let the Lord lead and have Him build you up in such a divine way is a whole different ball game. One of my favorite things I love about what I do is that I can intertwine who I am and who I live for in my work and it will speak without a single word needing to be said. As Set Apart continues to grow and build, I’m excited for all who are here to see my journey and allow me access to visually tell your story through photos. Thank you for taking the time in reading and getting to know lil ol' me.
